Biography
Teboga Christian, known to music fans as "T Chris" was born on December 26th, 1986 at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. His first nine years were spent in Agricola, after which he moved to Eccles where he resides until now. As a child he was a sports fanatic, and spent many days playing cricket and other games with his father and older brother. With this interest in sports he looked up to figures like Michael Jordan and Brian Lara. This enthusiasm for sports stayed with him and caused him to play well enough to be chosen to represent Guyana at the youth cricket matches in Trinidad and England in 2002. In his early years he also enjoyed "lip synching" to tunes by popular musicians.
Teboga enjoys a good plate of chowmein, and his favourite colours and music genre are white and silver, and R&B respectively. He also spends a portion of his time "playing PC games".
When asked about the inspiration behind the launching of his music career,
T.Chris responded,
"I always had a love for music, but what gave me a real urge to start rapping was after listening to the Get rich or die trying 50 Cent album. I got a lot of encouragement from my close friends and group members."
Teboga began rapping in 2004, but no recording was done until March of 2007; his first music video single was released in December that year. He's subsequently gone on to make his debut stage performance at 2007's Watz Hott Guyana show, and perform at a few other local concerts, including the Calypso Fury concert. He also noted that his performance at the Calypso Fury concert was one which was special to him because at the end of the show many persons approached him to commend him on his performance and to have their photographs taken with him. Since recording, he's worked with other local artistes like Jory, Alicia Hoalim, Roger a.k.a. "Brains" from the Brutal Jammers Band and Gialiani. So far he's worked with two producers, both out of the Brutal Tracks recoding studio- Ken Taylor and Devon Roberts.
He has written every song he's ever performed and has identified "Best of the Best" as his personal favourite. He said that there is no special preparation techniques which he implements before his stage shows since "rapping is [his] thing...it's what [he's] good at." At best he assesses the crowd so as to get an idea of what direction he should take for that particular performance.
He has admitted that he does not believe he receives much local support saying, " I don't know if it's because I don't push hard enough or Guyana ain't really into local rap that much." He does, however, get a lot of support from friends and other supporters in the United States. He will not stop though, and will continue to work hard until he has achieved his goal of being signed to a record label that can expose his talent to the world.
T Chris encourages his fans to look out for new music and videos to be released soon. When asked to share a bit of advice with those contemplating beginning a music career T Chris simply said that a person must do this only if it is in his or her heart, not for the money or the fame.
