Terry B. (2008-11-09 22:39:34) This is indeed a very proud and historic moment in our nation's history.
The first annual GUYANESE MUSIC AWARDS SHOW. WOW!!! (this will be taking place on Guyanese soil on God's given day, Sunday November 30th 2008). Doesn't that sound powerful? Very powerful indeed! First off, let me just say congratulations to ARROWHEAD PROMOTION'S. Thank you for giving me another reason to boast about Guyana. I glad that it's finally here and that I'm able to witness history in the making.
It is unfortunate that this was not done earlier, back in the days when Mr. Al. Seals and the countless others who had to leave Guyana to further their music careers. Although they are now famous like my self, they are always proud to tell the audience that they are GUYANESE. So with that said, congratulations once again and best wishes to both you and my fellow Guyanese entertainers. Now guys if only we can get the Guyanese Government to pass a bill and put into place the copyright act, (wouldn't that be something?!), that would once again put Guyana in the leading role over the rest of South America and the entire Caribbean.
PS. On December 26th 2008 here in Toronto Canada, a young Guyanese gentleman by the name of Sherlock Sheppard will be launching the first annual GUYANESE CANADIAN MUSIC AWARDS SHOW. Yet another proud moment for Guyanese everywhere. This show will feature a fabulous line up of entertainers, including my daughter Manda B., who lunched her music career on the One Love Guyana Show earlier this year, (she was asked to be the musical ambassador representing the youths of Guyana). She performed I'll Come Softly, the answer back to Come To Me Softly which I recorded and a song that she wrote and recorded this past summer with Terry Gajraj. In addition to Manda B. and myself, there will be many other entertainers from right here in Canada as well as the US, who will all be a part of this glamorous black tie affair, namely, Terry G.; the world renowned Caribbean pianist Mr. Dennis De Souza, Jimmy Ray of Combo 7, Tony Ricardo, Pamela Maynard, Ras Sangie, Roger B, Prince Ally plus many others. Best of luck to Sherlock and everyone involved with this show, I hope that it is a success and that it will be the first of many such events.
Best regards,
Terry B
