Dancehall Super Stars Mavado and Tommy Lee will be heading to Guyana for the highly anticipated Slingerz/Carib Beer Summer Jam, on August 17 at the Guyana National Stadium.
This is the first time the two artiste will be sharing the same stage since Sting 2012 and having both enhance their arterially of music since then, the question will be ask, who will really be the headline act on the night?.
Mavado last visited Guyana on News Years Day (January 1) when he starred the Kashif and Shanghai after Football Finals Show at the Guyana National Stadium, while Tommy Lee created havoc at the National Park on December 25 when he stormed the stage at the Slingerz Christmas Concert.
In a Release, Slingerz Entertainment stated that they are more than excited, just like any other dancehall fan to bring two of the biggest names in the business to Guyana as they continue with their trend of providing quality entertainment and showing appreciation to their fans for their year-round support.
"Both artistes will be coming to Guyana with their band, which will add a more stage show atmosphere to the event. Each artiste has their own fans, so we plan on bringing them all together for one massive show. Just like everyone else, we at Slingerz Family don't have a clue who will be the last on stage since in our book, they are both main acts” Slingerz Entertainment stated in their release.
Slingerz Entertainment, further said that "the event was created to satisfy the entertainment hunger of Guyanese both at home and those returning for the August vacation period as well as to create an avenue for those regionally especially our friends in Suriname, Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago”.
According to the 'West Side' based Slingerz Entertainment, promotion will commence in two weeks with ticket give-a-ways, promotional parties, live radio and television updates and a VIP party that will give fans a chance to interact with the artistes”.
Leroy Russell more popularly known as Tommy Lee and Tommy Lee Sparta burst out on the Dancehall frontier in 2008 while David Brooks, aka Mavado, seems like a veteran in the business, even though he had only surfaced in 2005.
Mavado is considered as one of the 'poster boys' of the Dancehall genre, who is now signed to the We the Best Music Group/Cash Money Records.
"This is a show that many would remember for the ages so we are looking forward to August 17” Slingerz Entertainment pointed out.

Mark those calendars! Finally, the dates of Guyana's biggest summer event have been released! The most anticipated event of the year, Jamzone Summer Break 2013, has been set for August 16 – August 25!
From the beginning of the year, the big question has been "When is Jamzone?!" Guyanese abroad and those at home have been waiting for this moment, the moment when summer plans can be finalized and those flights can be booked!
With so many attractions wrapped up into ten days of fun and exciting events, it has been proven that travelers prefer to vacation in Guyana while Guyanese enjoy the comfort of saving BIG dollars by spending their August holiday right at home where they can take advantage of quality entertainment at very affordable rates!
Being in its thirteenth year, Jamzone has grown from a simple one-day beach event to a ten-day affair with events ranging from the fanciest of Jazz Festivals to the biggest international concerts to the most attractive of sporting events.
From the time of Jamzone's introduction in 2001 to the present, this event underwent several evolutionary stages but none was more significant than the facelift it received in 2009 when history was made in the local entertainment industry. Three consecutive days of Super Concerts were hosted at the Guyana National Stadium where the Caribbean's most prolific artistes performed. Guyana partied non-stop for three full days!
As the years rolled on, International acts were added to the roster of activities, the first being R&B Singer/Songwriter Neyo! With this achievement, Hits and Jams never failed to fall from this dimension and has since brought to Guyana R&B Singer/Songwriter Trey Songz, Rapper/Songwriter Eve and Hip Hop Recording Artist Rick Ross.
This year we're shooting further! We will maintain ten days of activities but the excitement will be intensified with new additions. Our string of events includes the now annual Jazz Night and Fashion Show, Kids Zone, the Miss Jamzone International Pageant, the Regional Night Concert and International Night Concert. Among initiatives added to this year's schedule are a magnificent Ski Show, a Biker's Fest event, Food/Local Night and a Football match between two big local teams.
Those who are anxious for our headlining acts to be revealed will have to wait a while longer as the Hits and Jams team is not quite ready to let the cat out the bag. However, it must be noted that the main act for this year's International Night has been secured! As usual, patrons can look forward to a top class artiste who has stormed the music scene.
As it relates to the Regional Night Concert, partygoers can anticipate outstanding singers and musicians who are sure to bring that Caribbean flare to the table. With several acts booked for this event, it will be an evening of Soca, Dancehall, Reggae and Chutney sure to keep fans gyrating all through the night.
