For some, dancing is simply something you do at a party or celebratory function, for others it's a way to keep fit; but to a very dedicated few, dancing is as important as breathing. It transcends the physical and borders on a spiritual connection; for others it is a well established art form.

For thousands of years this ancient art form has been used not only as a form of expression, but it also connects people through social interaction. In Guyana, dance plays an important role in our social, religious and cultural activities. However, despite the existence of several dance schools countrywide, there are still thousands who seek an appropriate forum to showcase their talent and possibly pursue a career in dance.

Well, Hits and Jams, Guyana's premier entertainment entity is hoping to make that dream a reality. Applications for the first ever National dance competition ‘Feel the Beat' are available currently at the Company's headquarters at 206 Lance Gibbs Street or it can also be downloaded from their Facebook page.

This competition will be unlike anything ever witnessed in Guyana. ‘Feel the Beat' will be a weekly-aired reality show where dancers will endure eleven weeks of grueling competition to test their versatility and skills. Those who make it past auditions will perform in duos, groups and solo rounds; all while being guided by some of Guyana's top choreographers!

Auditions are scheduled for March 2nd, 3rd and 4th and are open to persons age seventeen and over. Any dance style is accepted. Whether you're into hip-hop, contemporary, krumping, salsa, break, bollywood, jazz, ballet, quickstep or ballroom, you will be eligible!
Feel the Beat' is not only looking for the best dancer in Guyana, but we are prepared to offer incentives of one million dollars to the champion while second and third will walk away with five hundred and two hundred and fifty thousand dollars respectively!
Application deadline is February 17th!
